High-speed head-on crash closes State Route 522 in Snohomish County, 3 sent to hospital

A high-speed head-on collision on State Route 522 near Fales Road in Snohomish County resulted in serious injuries to three individuals and a lengthy closure of the highway. According to a press release from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue, the crash occurred just west of the Snohomish River and involved two vehicles. Emergency responders found one occupant who had managed to self-extricate, while the drivers of both vehicles required assistance from firefighters to be freed. All three patients were classified as Advanced Life Support cases and were transported to local hospitals for treatment, with their conditions currently unknown. The collision not only posed a danger to the individuals involved but also significantly impacted traffic flow in the area, necessitating hours of road closure.

Eventually, State Route 522 was reopened after the responders completed their work. The Washington State Patrol has since taken over the investigation. This incident underscores the potential risks associated with high-speed driving and the importance of emergency response protocols.
