A severe traffic incident occurred on November 13, 2024, on I-405 south near Bothell, involving a school bus transporting a girls soccer team from La Conner. The bus had 20 students and three adults on board, but fortunately, no injuries were reported according to the Bothell Fire Department. The collision also involved a pickup truck and a sedan, with initial reports indicating that the pickup driver experienced a medical emergency before the crash. Emergency services acted swiftly, with the Washington State Patrol coordinating the safe transfer of everyone from the scene. The La Conner School District expressed relief at the safe outcome and noted that the soccer match the team was headed to has been rescheduled.

Traffic was severely affected for several hours, with all lanes blocked initially before gradually reopening. This incident highlights the importance of rapid emergency response to ensure the safety of those involved. As a precaution, counselors will be available for any students affected by the incident.
