Good news for drivers: SR 529 bridge reopens in Everett after 5 months
The SR 529 bridge, an essential route for drivers between Everett and Marysville, has officially reopened after a five-month closure for extensive repairs. This important project, overseen by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), included repainting the bridge and repairing its mechanical components. WSDOT spokesperson Tom Pearce mentioned that the contractor faced minor setbacks due to the bridge's 97-year-old structure, but the work was ultimately completed successfully. The reopening is expected to alleviate the traffic congestion that affected downtown Everett during the closure, as many drivers had to reroute their commutes. The northbound lanes are now open to two lanes of traffic in both directions, providing a smoother travel experience for local residents.
Pearce also indicated that further work on the southbound SR 529 bridge is anticipated in the future. This news brings relief to many commuters who rely on this route for their daily travels, marking a positive development for the community and local traffic conditions.
