Overnight two-alarm fire damages multiple homes in the Central District

A two-alarm fire early Thursday morning on 20th Ave in Seattle's Central District displaced residents but did not result in any injuries. The Seattle Fire Department received the first call at 1:20 AM regarding a shed fire that rapidly spread to nearby homes. To combat the flames, 100 personnel responded, including twelve fire engines and six ladder trucks, with the fire being brought under control by 3 AM. Seven buildings suffered damage, consisting of four single-family homes and an apartment fourplex. The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections has been tasked with evaluating the structural integrity of the affected buildings.

Although the fire left residents displaced, specific numbers regarding those affected were not provided. Additionally, construction was recently permitted for a retaining wall at one of the residences involved. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, prompting further inquiry into the incident.
