Love City Love ShopRite edition joins effort to keep 15th Ave E active in long wait for redevelopment

Seattle, WALocal News

Love City Love has opened a new arts venue at 15th Ave E, revitalizing the former ShopRite location in Capitol Hill. The venue offers community events such as open mic nights every Thursday and sewing classes, aiming to foster local engagement. Developers at Hunters Capital are awaiting better economic conditions to move forward with a planned six-story, 330-unit mixed-use redevelopment that has city approval. Construction is on hold until interest rates and construction costs decrease, according to a company spokesperson. The area remains lively with other initiatives, including the Capitol Hill Quality Flea Center and a temporary pop-up bookstore, Haunted Burrow Books.

Despite recent business closures, such as Casita International, new establishments like Fire Tacos & Cantina are set to join the block. The neighborhood's merchant group is organizing a patio party to celebrate local businesses. Love City Love’s arrival signifies a commitment to maintaining community spirit during a period of transition.
