Seattle Parks holding community meeting on 2M update of Miller Park playground

Seattle, WALocal News

Seattle Parks is set to renovate the Miller Park playground, allocating $2 million for the project, with a community meeting scheduled for Thursday to gather input. The $1,906,093 renovation will replace play equipment, install safe surfacing, and enhance accessibility for children aged 2 to 12. Construction is planned to start in spring 2026 and is expected to last until fall 2026. Seattle Parks is working with Inclusion Matters to ensure inclusive design and will seek additional community feedback through an updated survey after the meeting. Recent upgrades to the park include artificial turf installed in 2022, and the area has become a hub for pickleball activities.

The Miller Community Center has also seen artistic enhancements, including a new wall mural. The playground's historical significance dates back to 1906 when it was gifted to the city by Mary Miller. This renovation aims to provide a modern, accessible recreational space for local families.
