Kamp Social House Madison Valleys only lesbian bar is closing

Seattle, WALocal News

Kamp Social House, Madison Valley's only lesbian bar, will close its doors on July 2, 2025, after three years of operation. Owners Marceil Van Camp and Katy Knauf announced the closure, stating it is a personal decision rooted in the need for reflection. The bar was intended to be a community hub, but its unique offerings did not resonate as planned. It took over the space previously occupied by other businesses, including the well-known Luc. New developments are on the horizon, with a 24-hour pottery studio preparing to join the block.

Additionally, a six-story apartment building is under construction nearby, indicating ongoing growth in the area. Kamp managed to survive until the latest Pride celebration and outlasted significant transit construction nearby. The closure highlights the challenges faced by niche establishments in maintaining viability in changing neighborhoods.
