Sammamish, WALocal News

On February 11, 2025, the Sammamish YMCA will launch its annual fund drive, targeting a fundraising goal of $110,000 to boost community health initiatives. The campaign will kick off with a breakfast fundraiser from 7:00 to 9:00 a. m. , where participants can enjoy food and hear impactful stories about the YMCA's mission. Proceeds from the drive will support membership scholarships and a variety of programs aimed at addressing significant health-related needs within the Sammamish community, including youth sports and mental wellness seminars.

Senior branch executive Kelly Martin highlighted the critical role of the YMCA in supporting vulnerable populations, particularly seniors who often experience isolation. To combat this, the YMCA has developed programs that encourage social interaction, such as group hikes and coffee meet-ups. Additionally, the fund drive aims to help teens find connections and resources necessary for navigating modern mental health challenges, particularly those exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative underscores the importance of community support, as it allows individuals who might struggle financially to access YMCA programs through scholarships. Martin reinforced the idea that the fund drive is a collective effort to enhance the well-being of neighbors, emphasizing the YMCA's commitment to inclusivity and community building.
