On February 1, 2025, Sammamish will celebrate its annual Lunar New Year event, spotlighting the city's diverse Asian communities. This family-friendly gathering, running from 1 to 4 p. m. at Central Washington University's Sammamish campus, will feature a range of cultural activities and educational booths designed to foster community connections. Attendees will enjoy live performances, including K-pop by the Victorious Dance Company and traditional lion dancing and kung fu by the Shaolin Kung Fu Chan Academy.

Last year's celebration included interactive stalls showcasing tea art and Chinese calligraphy, demonstrating the event's commitment to cultural education. Angie Millar, the city's communications manager, noted that the timing of performances is strategically planned to allow attendees to explore activities before the shows begin. The inclusion of modern elements like K-pop aims to engage younger audiences and create a unique cultural experience. The city hopes this event will enhance understanding and appreciation for the Lunar New Year among residents of all backgrounds. As stated by Millar, "Residents should attend if they want to go to a local event that highlights a cultural group that has a large footprint in the city.
