Local students place nationally in prestigious history competition

The National History Day competition recently honored outstanding student projects, with Eastlake High School students taking center stage. Ila Lu, a rising freshman, won first place nationally in the Junior Individual division with her innovative website titled _Pocket Books: Turning the Page for American Readers_, which explores the significance of pocket-sized books published in the 1930s. Alongside her, Manya Nagrath and Simren Bajwa also shone brightly by placing in the top 10 in the Junior Group division with their exhibit project. All three students previously showcased their talents during their eighth-grade year at Evergreen Middle School, demonstrating a continuity of excellence in their educational journey. The competition, marking its 50th anniversary, encourages middle and high school students across the nation to engage deeply with history through various formats, including documentaries, exhibits, papers, performances, or websites.

Their achievements not only signify personal accomplishments but also reflect the supportive educational environment within their community.
