Redmond's Teen Services Project Engaging Youth for a Brighter Future

Redmond, WALocal News

The Teen Services Project in Redmond is a forward-looking initiative designed to assess and enhance the support available for teens aged 13 to 19. Throughout spring 2025, the city will actively engage with the community to understand the specific needs of its youth. Multiple opportunities for input, including a questionnaire and community events, will ensure that teens and families can voice their opinions on service priorities. Notable events include the Beat the Bunny 5K and an Arbor Day celebration, where project staff will be available for discussions. Currently, programming for teens is transitioning from the Old Fire House Teen Center to the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village, with all services expected to be operational by late April 2025.

This transition reflects a commitment to evolving teen services since their inception in the 1990s, which began with performance spaces and expanded to include mental health support and community engagement activities. The project aims to create an inclusive, supportive environment that encourages peer-driven programming. By fostering strong community connections, Redmond seeks to empower its youth and ensure they have the resources needed for their development.
