Esterra Park Opens in Overlake Neighborhood

Redmond, WALocal News

Esterra Park, a new 2. 67-acre public space in Redmond’s Overlake neighborhood, will officially open on November 1, 2023, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p. m. This park is notable for being the first major privately-owned public space in the city, designed to meet the needs of a growing community. Mayor Angela Birney emphasized the importance of such spaces in fostering inclusivity and social connections among residents.

The park features an accessible elevator, public art installations, and a meadow designed to attract local wildlife, including pollinators. The collaborative effort involved city officials, Capstone Partners, and JLL, ensuring that community engagement shaped the design process. While Esterra Park expands the city's recreational offerings, it will be maintained by its private owners, adhering to city park rules. Community members are invited to report maintenance needs through the city’s service request system. For additional details about the project, residents can visit the city’s official website.
