Teen Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Redmond

On December 20, 2023, a 15-year-old male was arrested by Redmond Police in connection with a tragic hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 40-year-old pedestrian. The incident took place on December 6, at approximately 2:35 p. m. , when the suspect lost control of a stolen 2007 gray Nissan Pathfinder while driving recklessly at high speeds. The victim, a husband and father of three, was struck while standing on the sidewalk.

After the crash, the driver and his passengers abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Thanks to security footage and community cooperation, detectives were able to identify the suspects swiftly. Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe highlighted the community's crucial role in the investigation, stating, "Hopefully, the rest of the criminal justice system can ensure justice for the victim and help provide closure for the family. " The teenager is currently held at the King County Detention Center and faces serious charges of Vehicular Homicide. This incident underscores the ongoing issues of reckless driving and vehicle theft in the area.
