In a tragic turn of events, a 15-year-old male was arrested by Redmond Police in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 40-year-old father on December 6, 2023. The incident occurred in the 17600 block of NE 24th Street, where the teenager was recklessly driving a stolen gray Nissan Pathfinder at high speeds. He lost control of the vehicle, striking the victim, who was peacefully walking on the sidewalk at the time. Following the collision, the driver and his passengers fled the scene on foot, prompting a thorough investigation by local law enforcement. Detectives successfully identified the suspects using security footage and community assistance, highlighting the vital role that residents played in this case.

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe stated that the officers worked diligently to ensure justice for the victim and closure for the grieving family. The teenager has been booked into the King County Detention Center and is awaiting charges for Vehicular Homicide.
