Pop-Up Dog Parks to Return to Redmond

Redmond, WALocal News

The City of Redmond, Washington, has announced the return of pop-up dog parks, with the inaugural site now available at Luke McRedmond Park, while a second location at Hartman Park is slated to open soon. This initiative was born from a strong community desire for more off-leash areas where pets and their owners can enjoy outdoor activities together. Mayor Angela Birney emphasized the joy these parks brought last year, stating her excitement for both returning and new visitors. Each off-leash area will feature fenced sections for small and large dogs, ensuring a safe environment for play. Parks will be open daily from dawn to dusk, with guidelines including a limit of two dogs per handler and the requirement for all dogs to be leashed when entering or exiting the area.

The city will maintain regular upkeep, including trash collection, to ensure a pleasant experience for park-goers. This initiative aligns with the city's broader commitment to enhancing recreational spaces as outlined in the 2017 Parks, Arts, Recreation, Culture, and Conservation (PARCC) Plan. Feedback from visitors can be submitted through the City’s Q-Alert system and an online questionnaire, helping to shape future off-leash areas.
