The City of Redmond, Sound Transit, and Microsoft jointly celebrated the opening of the new Redmond Technology Station Bridge, marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22, 2024. The bridge creates essential connections to the Sound Transit Redmond Technology light rail station, a transit flyer stop on SR 520, and regional biking and walking trails. Mayor Angela Birney noted that the bridge will significantly benefit the community by promoting sustainable transportation options, including dedicated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge, designed by AECOM and engineered by Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc. , includes features such as functional canopies, landscaped planters with native plants, and benches for user comfort.

King County Executive Dow Constantine remarked on the bridge's importance as a transit hub for Microsoft employees and residents of the Eastside. This project aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety, and enhance accessibility for thousands of daily commuters. The collaborative effort between the City of Redmond, Sound Transit, and Microsoft showcases the commitment to creating a more connected and sustainable community. The bridge represents a significant investment in infrastructure that supports both local transit and the broader goal of enhancing public transportation in the area.
