Redmond, WALocal News

Sound Transit has announced that the Downtown Redmond Link Extension will officially open on May 10, 2025, adding two new stations to the Link 2 Line. Spanning 3. 4 miles, the extension will connect Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond, providing a crucial transit link for commuters, students, and visitors. Trains will operate every 10 minutes, 16 hours a day, ensuring convenient access to popular destinations like Marymoor Park and Redmond Town Center. Local officials, including Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers and Redmond Mayor Angela Birney, have praised the project for its potential to boost economic growth and reduce traffic congestion.

The initial segment of the 2 Line, which opened in April 2024, saw impressive first-day ridership numbers, indicating strong public interest in light rail services. With the full 2 Line expected to launch by late 2025, including additional stations, Sound Transit aims to create a more interconnected regional transit network. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to sustainable transportation solutions in the Eastside area. As the region continues to grow, these developments promise to enhance mobility and accessibility for all residents.
