Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe has been appointed as the President of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) for the 2024-25 term. His selection was announced during the organization's May meeting, where he was recognized for his extensive experience and leadership skills. Steve Strachan, the executive director of WASPC, highlighted that Chief Lowe's leadership will be beneficial for law enforcement leaders across the state. Chief Lowe, who previously served as Vice President of WASPC, expressed his honor at being selected for this role and emphasized the value of the association in enhancing the professional development of law enforcement executives. Founded in 1963, WASPC includes nearly 1,000 members, comprising 39 county sheriffs, numerous police chiefs, and representatives from state and federal agencies.

The organization stands out as the only one of its kind in the nation, bringing together local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement into a cohesive body. WASPC's mission is to offer specific resources and services to law enforcement agencies, whether they are members or not, promoting collaboration and a unified voice. Chief Lowe's presidency is anticipated to strengthen these efforts and foster greater networking and cooperation among law enforcement agencies in Washington State.
