Redmond Police Warn of Robberies Targeting Older Adults

Redmond, WALocal News

The Redmond Police Department has reported an increase in street thefts targeting older adults, calling on the community to remain cautious. The robberies typically involve one or two female suspects approaching individuals walking alone, trying to sell or trade jewelry. When the victims refuse, the suspects resort to force, stealing valuable jewelry. One incident on June 18 involved a 58-year-old woman who was approached by a suspect in a white SUV, who then stole a gold necklace valued at over $3,600. Fortunately, the victims have reported no serious injuries from these encounters.

The police are advising community members, especially seniors, to be wary of strangers offering gifts or trades. They also recommend traveling in groups when possible. Anyone who experiences or witnesses such incidents is encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately.
