Redmond Police Searching for Suspects in Recent Robberies Targeting Older Adults

Redmond, WALocal News

The Redmond Police Department is actively seeking assistance from the community in addressing a troubling trend of street robberies targeting older adults. In these incidents, suspects, typically females, approach victims under the pretense of selling or trading jewelry, only to resort to force if the offer is declined. One significant case occurred on June 18, when a 58-year-old woman was approached while walking in front of an apartment complex, leading to her gold necklace being yanked from her neck. This necklace was valued at over $3,600. Fortunately, the victims have not sustained serious injuries, but the police are urging the community to remain vigilant.

They recommend that individuals avoid accepting gifts or trades from strangers and travel in groups whenever possible. The police encourage anyone who experiences such encounters to contact law enforcement promptly. Community safety remains a top priority, and proactive measures are essential to prevent further incidents.
