The City of Redmond has finalized a purchase agreement with Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) for its property at 6505 176th Avenue NE, valued at $18. 5 million. This site encompasses a 20,491 square-foot facility that serves as the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village. The city has leased this property since 2017 and plans to continue its operations without interruption following the acquisition. Mayor Angela Birney highlighted that this move will save the city $2.

9 million compared to ongoing leasing costs, providing increased flexibility in community service delivery. LWTech will utilize the sale proceeds to enhance its Kirkland campus and establish an Endowed Capital Improvement Fund. The purchase has been budgeted for in the Capital Improvements Plan since 2018, ensuring no disruption to other city projects. The agreement received approval from both Redmond's City Council and LWTech's Board of Trustees in October 2025. The property is set to close on or before October 31, 2025.
