Redmond, WA, garnered an honorable mention in the 2025 Mayors’ Climate Protection Awards for its innovative Climate Resiliency and Sustainability in Vegetation Management Plan. Mayor Angela Birney stated that the city is committed to environmental stewardship, aligning sustainability goals with everyday practices. The plan, which will begin implementation in spring 2024, seeks to methodically expand tree canopy, reduce pesticide usage, and increase opportunities for pollinator gardens.
