Redmond Appoints New City Attorney
The Redmond City Council appointed Rebecca Mueller as city attorney on August 5, marking a significant leadership change. Mayor Angela Birney praised Mueller for her integrity and commitment to justice, calling her promotion a well-earned recognition of her dedication to the community. With 14 years of public sector legal experience, Mueller has been part of the City of Redmond since 2017, serving as the supervising attorney in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office since 2019. Her portfolio includes work on code enforcement, civil forfeitures, and legal guidance for city departments. Before joining Redmond, she led the Misdemeanor Crimes Unit at the Pima County Attorney’s Office in Tucson, AZ, where she managed felony cases involving property crimes and DUIs.
Mueller holds a Bachelor of Science in business economics and a Juris Doctorate with a Health Law Certificate. She is a member of both the Arizona and Washington State Bar Associations. Excited about her new role, Mueller looks forward to contributing to Redmond's ongoing development.
