Redmond Names New Supervising Prosecuting Attorney

Redmond has appointed Polly Peshtaz as the new supervising prosecuting attorney after Rebecca Mueller's promotion to city attorney. Peshtaz, who began her role on August 5, has over 18 years of prosecutorial experience, including her service as a deputy prosecuting attorney since January 2020. In this capacity, she managed criminal cases and participated in the City’s Community Court, while also engaging in legal training with law enforcement. Mayor Angela Birney praised her legal skills and commitment to public service, stating that Peshtaz will guide the prosecutorial team effectively. Peshtaz holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Seattle University School of Law and previously worked as a prosecutor in Tacoma for over 13 years.

Her involvement in community education on domestic violence showcases her commitment to public safety. She also represented the prosecutor’s office at the Washington State Association of Municipal Attorneys' conference. Excited about her new role, Peshtaz emphasized her dedication to serving the community and upholding public safety standards.
