Redmond Celebrates Completion of Major Bike and Pedestrian Trail

Redmond Mayor Angela Birney will lead a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 12 to celebrate the completion of the Redmond Central Connector Trail. This final phase adds 1. 6 miles to the existing trail, making it a total of 3. 9 miles and connecting Redmond to the 42-mile Eastrail network. Mayor Birney highlighted that the trail links Redmond with neighboring cities and enhances access to local attractions, including parks and public art.

The city acquired the abandoned railroad corridor in 2010, with a vision to create a trail that fosters community engagement. The first phase, a one-mile segment, was completed in 2013, followed by a 1. 3-mile segment in 2017. This project is significant for promoting active transportation and economic activity in the region. The event will feature remarks from various city officials and project designers, emphasizing the collaborative effort behind the trail's development.
