Redmond Celebrates Completion of Major Bike and Pedestrian Trail

Redmond Mayor Angela Birney will lead a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a. m. on Sept. 12 to celebrate the completion of the Redmond Central Connector Trail. The final 1.

6-mile segment connects the trail to the 42-mile Eastrail network, making Redmond the first city to fully finish its section of this significant regional project. Mayor Birney noted that the trail enhances connectivity with neighboring cities and provides access to parks, public art, and local businesses. The project began in 2010 with a vision to transform an abandoned railroad corridor into a vibrant community trail. The first phase was completed in 2013, followed by a second phase in 2017, reflecting a commitment to community development over 15 years. The ceremony will feature speakers from the City of Redmond, the project design team, and regional representatives.

This milestone not only improves local infrastructure but also promotes outdoor activities and community engagement. The trail is expected to draw more visitors to Redmond, further integrating the city into the larger Eastrail network.
