Redmond Man Convicted in Death and Concealment of Elderly Victim

Redmond, WALocal News

Andrew D. Stanisci, 39, has been convicted of serious charges, including Manslaughter in the First Degree, in connection with the death of Joel Godino, 68, whose remains were found concealed in a suitcase in a Redmond apartment. The Redmond Police Department's thorough investigation revealed that Stanisci abused, drugged, and financially exploited Godino over an extended period. Witness reports indicated that he isolated Godino, even confining him to a closet and denying him basic care. The King County Medical Examiner determined acute drug intoxication as the primary cause of death, with blunt force trauma and cardiovascular disease as contributing factors.

Following Godino's death, Stanisci attempted to cover up the crime by hiding the body and continuing to access the victim's bank accounts, transferring nearly $10,000 and forging checks. Chief Darrell Lowe stated that this case exemplifies the tragic abuse of a vulnerable individual and praised the efforts of detectives in uncovering the truth. Stanisci is currently in custody and awaits sentencing, which is expected to address the severity of his actions. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the protection of vulnerable populations from exploitation and abuse.
