City Hosting Project Kick-off Ceremony of Cornforth Campbell Property

Puyallup, WALocal News

The City of Puyallup will host a ceremony on June 13 to celebrate the redevelopment of the Cornforth Campbell property. This project, led by Palindrome Properties Group, will introduce 115 apartments and a food hall, revitalizing a long-neglected area. City Manager Steve Kirkelie stated that the redevelopment will foster community pride and improve connections to the nearby Meeker Mansion. The initiative supports the city’s 2019 Downtown Economic Development Plan, which aims to diversify housing and retail offerings. In January 2025, the City Council approved the development agreements with Palindrome after a competitive RFP process.

The project is projected to create 175 construction jobs and 55 permanent jobs, generating an estimated $1. 3 million in new spending downtown. Additionally, Palindrome will provide 20 public parking spaces on-site during weekdays to mitigate the loss of spaces during construction. The Cornforth Campbell property, historically significant, was purchased by the city in 2002 and has served as a parking lot since.
