Pursuit ends in crash on SR 512 in Puyallup, suspect jumps from overpass

A 36-year-old suspect crashed during a police pursuit on State Route 512 in Puyallup Tuesday night, allegedly jumping from an overpass afterwards. The incident began around 9 p. m. when the driver swerved on Valley Avenue, nearly colliding with an oncoming police car. Authorities pursued the suspect, suspecting impairment, as he continued into opposing traffic.

After crashing into two other vehicles on SR 512, the suspect exited his car and jumped into a private yard below, landing on the ground. Central Pierce Fire and Rescue crews transported the suspect to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another driver from the crash was also hospitalized but with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. Police activity blocked westbound SR 512 for an extended period during the incident, causing significant traffic disruption. The crash was cleared from the roadway the following day.
