Woman arrested for attempted kidnapping at Puyallup hospital

On Monday afternoon, a 45-year-old woman was arrested for attempting to kidnap a three-year-old girl from Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington. The incident unfolded around 1:17 p. m. when the suspect picked up the child, who was seated with her mother in the emergency room. Witnesses, including the girl's mother and hospital staff, quickly intervened to prevent the abduction, but the woman resisted and had to be forcibly subdued.

The child sustained minor injuries from the suspect's grasp during the struggle. Hospital security acted swiftly to detain the woman until Puyallup police could arrive on the scene. Authorities have charged the suspect with second-degree kidnapping, highlighting the seriousness of the attempted abduction. MultiCare, the hospital's parent organization, praised the staff for their quick response and emphasized their commitment to patient safety. This incident raises concerns about security in healthcare facilities and the protection of vulnerable patients.
