Emergency response training drills planned at Colfax High School today

Today, Colfax High School will conduct active shooter mass casualty drills from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office announced the exercises, urging the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Emergency vehicles and personnel will be present, simulating a critical incident response. The Whitman County Department of Emergency Management, in collaboration with local school districts and emergency services, is facilitating the training. This drill aims to enhance coordination and preparedness among local agencies when responding to emergencies. Participants will engage in a mass casualty scenario to gain realistic training experience. Officials emphasize that there is no cause for alarm, as the event is a planned exercise.
