Wayne Main stays active and independent at 100

Wayne Main, a resident of Juliaetta, Idaho, celebrates his 100th birthday today while living independently and actively contributing to his community. Born in Pendleton, Oregon, Main has dedicated most of his life to hard work, transitioning from logging to bus driving after an injury forced him to change careers. He spent 15 years as a bus driver for the Troy School District, forming lasting friendships with the students he transported. Despite his age, Main remains engaged in his daily life, taking care of his lawn and helping local farmers. He and his late wife Lorraine enjoyed a long marriage of 73 years, raising four children and welcoming 19 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Main believes turning 100 is not a big deal, saying, “It just happens. ” A public celebration for him is scheduled for 1 p. m. today at the Senior Citizen Center in Kendrick, inviting the community to honor his milestone. His life exemplifies resilience and community spirit, as he continues to inspire those around him.
