UI In all, 4 students regain legal U.S. status

Pullman, WALocal News

Four international students at the University of Idaho regained their legal U. S. status after federal government revocations. The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reported that one student's status was previously restored, leading to a total of four active cases, as confirmed by UI spokesperson Jodi Walker. All four students remain enrolled and actively pursuing their educational goals.

This development follows challenges filed in federal courts, where judges ruled that the government acted without due process in previous terminations. Earlier in April, two undergraduate students at Washington State University also had their visas reinstated. The new guidelines from the federal government expand ICE's authority to revoke student visas based on appearances in criminal or fingerprint databases. This shift raises concerns about the future of international students' legal status and their ability to complete their education. The situation highlights the ongoing complexities of immigration policy affecting students.
