Local international student visas restored after government decision

Pullman, WALocal News

The federal government restored the legal status of three local university students after ICE reversed its termination orders affecting international students. This decision came in response to numerous lawsuits that challenged the federal actions, which had caused over 1,200 students nationwide to lose their visas. Washington State University confirmed the reinstatement of two undergraduate international students, allowing them to continue their education. WSU spokesperson Phil Weiler noted the importance of this decision, stating, "We are pleased that they can continue making progress toward the completion of their degrees. " Meanwhile, the University of Idaho indicated that one student's legal status was also restored, as reported by their spokesperson Jodi Walker.

These developments follow a recent incident where a WSU graduate student had their visa revoked after they had already returned to their home country. Both universities are actively monitoring the situation to ensure compliance with federal regulations. The legal challenges highlight the ongoing impact of immigration policies on students pursuing higher education in the United States.
