Trio of judges to hear three cases at UI on Tuesday, then head to CdA Wednesday for two more cases
The U. S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will hold hearings on three significant cases in Idaho on Tuesday at the University of Idaho, followed by two more in Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday. One notable case involves Gabriel Gonzalez-Gonzalez, a Mexican citizen appealing a deportation decision from the Board of Immigration Appeals. Another case highlights Rodney Burch, a former public works director in Chubbuck, who alleges he was forced to resign after criticizing local government spending.
Tyler Jay Watson will also appeal a 15-year prison sentence for trafficking fentanyl. In Coeur d'Alene, the court will address health concerns raised by Henry Allen regarding cell towers near his home and a drug case involving Johnathan Allen, who received a lengthy prison term on gun and drug charges. The hearings aim to improve public access to the judicial process, reflecting the court's commitment to serving its jurisdiction across nine western states. The sessions will be held in the Moot Courtroom and can be attended in person with valid ID or viewed online. This visit marks a rare opportunity for Idaho residents to engage with the federal judicial system directly.
