The Pullman City Council is preparing to fill the Ward 1 vacancy left by newly elected Mayor Francis Benjamin, effective January 1, 2024. The application window will be open from December 1, 2023, to January 9, 2024, at 11:59 p. m. PST, allowing eligible residents to apply online or download a PDF application. The City will publish a detailed timeline and ward map on its official website to assist applicants.

After the application deadline, the City Council will review submissions and conduct in-person interviews on January 16, 2024. This meeting will be dedicated solely to discussing the qualifications of candidates for the vacant position. The selected individual is expected to take the Oath of Office shortly after, assuming their role on the Council. Furthermore, eligible residents will have the opportunity to run for a full four-year term in May 2025. This process reflects the City’s commitment to engaging the community in local governance and ensuring representation for Ward 1 residents.
