Community survey available to identify ways that improve public transit services
The Palouse Regional Transportation Planning Organization is gathering community feedback to improve public transit services across several counties in Washington and Idaho. The organization is updating its Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan to address the needs of vulnerable populations, including older adults and individuals with disabilities. Executive Director Rebecca Couch stated that the plan seeks to identify unmet needs and propose prioritized projects for implementation. Public input will be collected through an online survey, community gatherings, and email until January 9. Responses will help consultants identify service gaps and develop strategies, which will be finalized in spring.
The comprehensive planning document will be reviewed by the Palouse RTPO and Lewis-Clark Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization, with a final plan adoption anticipated in September. This effort aims to enhance efficiency, customer service, and funding opportunities for local agencies. The Washington consolidated grant program requires project applications every two years, with funding announcements made in the spring.
