Construction underway on damaged downtown Moscow building

Hodge and Associates Inc. Engineers is reconstructing its Moscow building after a pickup truck crashed into it on June 20. Principal engineer Scott Becker confirmed that Wasankari Construction crews are stabilizing the damaged wall before commencing full reconstruction. Staff continued working in the building by relocating to the back and utilizing rafters for support during the stabilization process. Becker stated that the restored building will match its original appearance, maintaining the architectural integrity of the downtown area.

Although he cannot specify a completion date, he anticipates having updates within a month. This incident highlights the challenges faced by local businesses in maintaining operations after unforeseen events. The reconstruction is vital for restoring both the physical structure and community confidence in the area. Continued support from local agencies and residents will be essential as work progresses.
