Crews extinguish Moscow kitchen fire, but dogs suffer from smoke inhalation
A kitchen fire in a Moscow home on North Polk Street late Monday night resulted in severe smoke inhalation for three dogs. Firefighters arrived just before 11 p. m. and quickly extinguished the flames, rescuing two dogs from inside the residence. The homeowner and another dog had already vacated the premises.
Preliminary findings suggest a kitchen appliance may have caused the fire, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Moscow Fire Department. Two of the dogs received oxygen on-site and were subsequently transported to Viking Veterinary Hospital for further treatment. As of Tuesday afternoon, all three dogs remained under oxygen support. In response to the incident, Viking Veterinary Hospital launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist the displaced homeowner and her pets. Community members can contribute through gofund.
