Holiday display to light up the night Saturday
Lewiston will host the Winter Spirit holiday lights display at Locomotive Park on Saturday, featuring 800,000 lights. The public is invited to the lighting ceremony from 5-6 p. m. , culminating in a countdown led by emcee Keith Havens at 6 p. m.
Over 100 volunteers have contributed to the event, which has brought joy to families for over three decades. Organizers have prioritized safety by designating the east parking lot of Valley Car Sales for attendees, reducing the need to cross Main Street. However, those parking south of the street will face a busy crossing, and law enforcement will be present to assist pedestrians. This event holds local significance, especially following a tragic incident in 2021 when a resident was struck by a vehicle while crossing. Police continue to seek tips regarding the unsolved case of the accident.
The community's involvement and the display's history underline its importance to local holiday traditions.
