Dense fog and speed cause two wrecks on Lewiston Hill
Two vehicles crashed on Lewiston Hill Tuesday afternoon as drivers failed to adjust speed for dense fog. The collisions occurred shortly after 9:42 a. m. while state troopers and deputies responded to a nearby vehicle fire. Both drivers were transported to St.
Joseph Medical Center following the separate incidents. A spokesperson from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the crashes happened in the same location but were distinct events. The Sheriff’s Office reminded drivers to exercise caution in low-visibility conditions. “These collisions could have been avoided if caution were used,” the news release stated. Weather-related accidents have been a concern in the region, particularly during foggy conditions.
Authorities encourage drivers to reduce speed and turn on headlights in adverse weather to prevent future incidents. The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office continues to monitor road safety and educate the public on safe driving practices.
