SEL announces three expansion projects
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) plans to invest around $90 million in expansion projects in Idaho and North Carolina, adding 370,000 square feet of new facilities. A key project is a 150,000-square-foot electronic device manufacturing plant in Moscow, Idaho, slated for completion in 2027. The facility will enhance SEL's manufacturing capabilities, located near its printed circuit board factory. In Boise, SEL will remodel a 170,000-square-foot building, with this $25 million project expected to finish by 2026. Additionally, the company will invest $15 million in North Carolina to construct a new 50,000-square-foot office building.
Senior media manager Kate Wilhite expressed excitement about the long-term potential of these expansions. Founder Ed Schweitzer emphasized the need for larger investments to continue meeting customer demands amid economic challenges. SEL evaluates growth opportunities based on factors like government efficiency and regulatory freedom, as reflected in its annual SEL Index of Freedom.
