Whitman County Auditor Sandy Jamison confirmed the mailing of nearly 24,000 vote-by-mail ballots for the upcoming general election. Voters who do not receive their ballots by the end of the week should contact the elections office at (509) 397-5284. All ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 4, or delivered to a ballot drop box by that time. Due to changes in the U.

S. Postal Service’s pickup schedule, several Washington counties, including Spokane County, have urged voters to mail their ballots early to avoid delays. Jamison advised voters to allow at least a week for delivery once the ballot is placed in a USPS mailbox. She also suggested that concerned voters request a hand-stamp on their return envelope from the postmaster.
