UI enrollment numbers continue to climb

The University of Idaho reported an increase in enrollment for the fifth consecutive year, with a total of 12,383 students. President Scott Green highlighted the university's success in retaining students, with 7,978 undergraduates, the largest undergraduate population since its establishment in 1889. The number of Idaho residents attending the university rose by 5%, in line with the state's population growth of 5. 1% from 2021 to 2024. Graduate student enrollment increased slightly to 2,021, marking a decade-high for this group.

The College of Law attracted 502 students, reflecting a 9. 8% rise in interest among future lawyers. The university also benefited from the Western Undergraduate Exchange program, which saw a 6% increase, totaling 1,872 participants. These trends indicate a positive shift in higher education choices among Idaho residents. Continued efforts to enhance student retention and attract out-of-state students appear to be yielding results.
