Pullman will take until March to review short-term rental code
The Pullman City Council voted on Tuesday to send parts of its short-term rental code back for staff review, with a deadline set for March to propose changes. This action responds to community feedback regarding regulations enacted earlier this year, which expanded short-term rentals and introduced new safety measures. Councilor Eric Fejeran highlighted concerns from residents about specific zoning code sections, prompting the council to revisit the definitions and prohibitions related to short-term rentals. The review will also clarify safety requirements such as emergency plans and inspections by building officials. Noncompliant owners could face fines of $250 per day, with a compliance deadline of December 31.
The updated code aims to balance regulatory compliance with residents' concerns, ensuring clear enforcement models. The council plans to engage in further discussions next year, allowing staff ample time to investigate the proposed revisions. This review signifies the council's commitment to addressing community concerns while maintaining safety and regulatory standards for short-term rentals.
