New U.S. 95 route completely open to drivers this weekend
The Idaho Transportation Department opens the newly completed 6-mile section of U. S. Highway 95 between Moscow and Reisenauer Hill this Sunday. The $90 million project includes a four-lane expansion aimed at improving safety by creating a flatter grade and reducing curves. Drivers have used the first 5 miles since July.
Ongoing work will involve the installation of permanent barriers, signs, delineators, and rumble strips, expected to continue for several weeks. U. S. 95 expansion efforts began in 1999, with this segment being the last to undergo improvements, marking a significant milestone in highway safety. The majority of the corridor saw construction in the early 2000s.
Construction on this latest stretch began in 2022 and received partial funding from the Idaho Legislature. Enhanced infrastructure is crucial for accommodating increased traffic and ensuring safer travel conditions in the region.
