Man suspected of causing fire in Pullman arrested after standoff
Elijah Regan, 40, was arrested following a standoff after a fire at a Pullman apartment complex on Sunday night. The incident began around 5:30 p. m. , damaging over seven units but leaving residents uninjured. Authorities suspect that Regan intentionally caused an explosion in his apartment, which led to a significant police response, including the Spokane County Bomb Squad.
After fleeing and driving erratically, Regan was located and surrendered peacefully near the Idaho state line around 11:40 p. m. He faces charges of first-degree arson and attempting to elude police. Residents were evacuated and placed in temporary shelters due to the ongoing investigation and structural damage. Pullman Police Chief Aaron Breshears confirmed that federal investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are assisting with the case.
The investigation continues as officials seek to determine the cause of the explosion.
