MPD addresses rumors surrounding UI fight

Pullman, WALocal News

The Moscow Police Department confirmed that a fight involving 26-year-old Austen Dawson on the University of Idaho campus resulted in serious injuries, contradicting rumors of multiple assailants. Dawson, who works for DoorDash, remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma following the altercation. His father reported that first responders had to revive him during transport to the hospital. The police clarified that evidence does not support claims that Dawson was "curb stomped" and emphasized that only one individual was involved in the fight. The fraternity of the alleged assailant announced his removal from membership and is cooperating with the investigation.

Dawson's father expressed frustration over the lack of arrests and ongoing threats against the other party. The police warned the public against harassment of witnesses, which could lead to criminal charges. An online fundraiser has been established to support Dawson’s medical and legal expenses.
