WSU football player shot at Pullman party
Uilisone “Sone” Falealo, a 19-year-old redshirt freshman football player at Washington State University, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen during a party at Aspen Heights Apartments in Pullman early Sunday morning. The Pullman Police Department is actively searching for 20-year-old Jakori Buchanan, who faces charges of first-degree assault and fourth-degree assault related to the incident. Falealo was treated at a hospital and released shortly after the shooting. Reports indicate that Falealo and his friends were providing security at the party when a confrontation occurred after Buchanan allegedly assaulted a female attendee. Witnesses claim Buchanan brandished a gun and shot Falealo after a physical altercation ensued.
Police reviewed surveillance footage showing Buchanan swinging the butt of his pistol before the gunshot. The investigation revealed that Buchanan fled the scene in a rental vehicle, which has since been returned to the airport. The case highlights the escalating violence at social gatherings and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address such incidents.
