Alleged Pullman shooter arrested in Seattle

Pullman, WALocal News

Seattle police arrested Jakori Buchanan, 20, who is accused of shooting Washington State University football player Uilisone “Sone” Falealo during a party in Pullman. The Pullman Police Department reported that Buchanan faces charges of first-degree assault and fourth-degree assault after allegedly shooting Falealo in the abdomen. Falealo was acting as security at the party when he confronted Buchanan, who had reportedly assaulted a female guest. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Buchanan swinging the butt of his gun before the gunshot, and police found a 9mm cartridge casing at the scene. Following the incident, Falealo was treated and released from the hospital, while Buchanan's attorney claims his actions were in self-defense.

The attorney stated that Buchanan and his cousin were attacked at the party, leading to the shooting incident. Buchanan, a full-ride academic scholar at the University of Washington, will be transported to Whitman County for his initial court appearance. The incident raises concerns about safety at local events and the repercussions of violence among young adults.
